Water softeners remove the hardness of water, i.e., the presence of minerals such as calcium and magnesium that can cause scale and reduce the efficiency of systems.
There are three main types of water softeners:
- Ion exchange softeners
The most common, they use ion exchange resins that capture calcium and magnesium ions, releasing sodium ions.
Magnetic softeners
Less common, they use magnetic fields to modify the crystalline structure of hardness minerals, promoting precipitation.
Desanders are devices designed to remove solid impurities from water. These impurities can cause
various problems,including:
- Problems with the heat exchanger of the heat generator
Metal residues from systems with radiators, which can cause the heat exchanger to puncture
- Reduction in heat exchange efficiency
Impurities can deposit on heat exchangers, reducing their efficiency and increasing energy consumption
There are two main types of desanders:
- Magnetic desanders
They use a magnetic field to attract ferromagnetic impurities.
- Cyclonic desanders
They use the principle of centrifugal force to separate impurities from water.
Polyphosphate feeders are devices that gradually release polyphosphates into the water. Polyphosphates are chemical compounds that prevent the formation of scale and protect pipes from corrosion. Scale can cause various problems, including:
- Reduced water flow
Scale reduces the diameter of pipes, reducing water flow and pressure.
- Increased energy consumption
Scale in heat exchangers reduces heating and hot water efficiency, increasing energy
consumption.
There are different types of polyphosphate feeders:
- Proportional feeders
Automatically adjust the dosage based on the water flow, ideal for heating systems.
- Cartridge feeders
Periodic replacement of the cartridge, a compact and practical solution.
- Electromechanical feeders (dosing pumps)
Electronic control of dosage, maximum precision and control.Indicated for the use of anti-legionella products and protection.

Corrosion inhibitors are chemical products that slow down or prevent metal corrosion in heating systems. Corrosion is an electrochemical process that deteriorates metals over time; it can cause perforation of metal pipes and deterioration of heating elements. Anti-algae products are indicated in all low-temperature systems and serve to prevent the formation of algae, reducing exchange and flow rate.
Corrosion inhibitors are:
- Organic, anodic, and cathodic inhibitors
They guarantee a pH range that does not fall below 6.5 (acidic) or above 8.5 (basic)
Descalers are chemical products used to remove scale that forms inside pipes, fittings, and heat exchangers.
The main descalers are:
- Heat exchanger descalers
Remove scale and deposits from heat exchangers, improving efficiency and reducing energy consumption.
- Toilet bowl descalers
Remove scale and stains from toilet bowls, restoring the functioning of the flushing mechanism. Available in gels, liquids, or tablets. Plumbing system descalers
- Plumbing system descalers
Remove scale and deposits from pipes and fittings, improving water flow.
Legionella is a pathogenic bacterium present in water that can cause Legionnaires’ disease, a serious lung infection. The proliferation of bacteria, particularly Legionella, is favored by temperatures between 25°C and 50°C and by stagnant water. To combat the growth of bacteria and Legionella, biocides are used.
There are two main types of biocides:
- Chlorine-based biocides
Sodium hypochlorite, chlorine dioxide, dichloroisocyanurate.
- Hydrogen peroxide-based biocides
Hydrogen peroxide, stabilized hydrogen peroxide.
Antifreeze products are used to protect water systems from freezing during winter periods and for protection in forced circulation solar thermal systems.
There are two main types of antifreeze products:
- Solar panel antifreeze
Propylene glycol with long-lasting organic inhibition, stable to thermal stress
- Heating system antifreeze
Non-toxic, propylene glycol-based, inhibited to provide excellent protection against frost and corrosion.
Sealants are products used to prevent water leaks from joints, fittings, and threads. Lubricants, on
the other hand, facilitate the installation and maintenance of systems.
There are different types of sealants and lubricants:
- Anaerobic sealants
Harden in the absence of air.
- Silicone sealants
Silicone-based, neutral sealants, acidic sealants.
